Time to say goodbye with WordPress.COM. I’m moving my blog to:

This is about getting into the ‘corridor’ as I put it in my post few days ago. Getting into the ‘corridor’ …

It means entering the arena where you want to be in the future, in any capacity, to get started.

T. Harv Eker

Blogging with WordPress.com is simple and enjoyable, but many things are limited, such as plugins addition, themes, and opportunity for blog monetization. It does limit my creativity on what I can do with this blog.

Initially I thought of waiting for few more months before getting my own domain, prepare more, to get more readers and subscribers. Yet, some statements that Harv Eker mentioned in his book, Secrets of The Millionaire Mind woke me up:

Rich people get started. They trust that once they get in the game, they can make intelligent decisions in the present moment, make corrections, and adjust their sails along the way.

Rich people see an opportunity, jump on it, and get even richer. As for poor people? They’re still “preparing”!

What Eker emphasizes always in his book was that everything start with your mindset. What he means by the rich people here are not necessarily those rich financially but they’re rich in their mindset, even when they are in the middle of struggle. Rich financially, not everyone has right now, but everyone can start with having rich mindset.

What does it mean by getting into the ‘corridor’? Check my new blog for more @ www.reason4smile.com.

Thank you for all your support for this blog and see you at my new blog!

Banning my own blog… November 6, 2007

Working in IT industry, having access to internet really a big temptation to lose focus at work and surf the net.

From LifeHacker, I got to know some tools to block time-wasting website, either for temporary or permanent. Here is the full article on the tools to be used. The idea for temporary block is using the greasemonkey script to block certain website at certain time of the day.

And what is the website I banned today? my own blog, this blog! I do find it really necessary, being the owner of the blog, I’m really tempted to see the traffic to my blog, finding out the website or what kind of query that people used to find my blog and so on.

For the full version of this article, check the post in my new blog here.

If your life is to be evaluated, who will be giving the grade? And how is your grade?

It was 3 years ago, I was studying for my final year at NTU Singapore. I took a course on game development, it was very time consuming where we have to submit 5 assignments, including a complete game for the final assignment. It was a struggle for each assignment, and I submitted each with some ‘imperfection’, some mistakes and incompleteness here and there. No more time, so I just submitted my assignment.

The last 4 assignments’ grade are given only at the end of the semester. On the day where the grade is just released, I bumped into my lecturer before the class. I asked him, what is my grade, and he said, “it’s very good”. Eventually, I checked the net and surprised with the line of A+ that I got for all 5 assignments.

“Hey sir, so generous of you, but don’t you know I made so many mistakes, my submission is very simple, with many errors or bugs here and there, don’t you see that, it’s very obvious?” How would he answer if I asked that to my lecturer? Maybe he will answer “Mmmm, who is the one judging here? it’s not you, it’s me, and I’m giving you A+!”

Similarly, in our life, the one valuing our life is our God, not ourselves nor others. We may see mistake and imperfection in our life, but God’s view will be very different. He values our life despite of our weaknesses. God sees the progress, your love for Him and your willingness to repent and change, not all your mistakes.

And you’re an A+ in front of Him.

Blogging to me October 19, 2007

What is blogging to me? Some people say blogging is a waste of time, one person has ever asked me whether I have too much free time to start blogging.

This month, I’ve been consistently writing average one post daily, and it’s been a blessing to me…

One or two months ago, in a cell group, we are discussing about how we can start a habit of spiritual discipline. One person suggesting an idea of having devotional time everyday but not only for the sake reading the bible, but taking something to be meditated and applied for the rest of the day.

For me, blogging gives me a similar benefit, not only I blog for others to read, I also blog to myself. As I am writing my blog, the whole day, I’ve been thinking of the point I shared in the blog. Kind of reminding me to apply them again and again.

Just as today, choosing to apply one point of my blog yesterday:

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

Mother Theresa

An instance happens today where I’m choosing to be honest, and it really makes me vulnerable. The person seems nice to me, but I don’t know if he has any hidden agenda.

It might be too nice, too simple or even too naive. But one thing, I choose to do the right thing. Anything happens, why should I be afraid of what man can do to me? God has a better plan, isn’t it?

Sometimes we worry excessively on something we should not be worried for, it might not happen or even it might benefits you, as you can do more things without feeling guilty as you’re being true to your conscience.

Let’s choose to do the right thing today!

Generous cleaner! She is the evening cleaner in my office. A widow with 2 sons, both are secondary students. To make the ends meet, she has to take 2 jobs a day, one in the morning and another in the evening, in my office. She has even worked for almost 24 hours a day, but couldn’t stand it and fell sick.

Yet she’s so generous, though she just knew me, she gave me many snacks to eat, bread, curry puff, etc. And last week, she came to our office with 2 big bowls of spicy mee siam. This time, not only for me, but for about two third of our office staffs of about 20 people.

She even promised us to bring us her special fried chicken and many more foods for all of us.

What a generous cleaner, in spite of her difficulties, she has been very-very generous. Even me, an executive engineer need to learn a lot about generosity from her.

A quote on generosity from John Maxwell:

Sometimes we hold on to our possesions because we fear we might run out-life seems scarce. But when we believe that giving is the way to live, we will produce more in the future-life seems abundant.

John C. Maxwell

When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.

This life is crazy!!! I think most of you must agree with me. Problems keep coming and coming. Complaining bosses, stagnant career, financial problem, relationship problem, weird people, hurting facts, disappointing situations, separated friends, uncertain future, and the list goes on and on.

That’s only the external, if we see the internal, we’ll see more disappointment, our limited self, full of weaknesses, things that we want to change, but how sometimes we are so powerless to change.

Today, I started blogging =). Blogging has been in my mind since I read the quote above few weeks ago, but it does really need a lot of confidence for me to start blogging.

We might have a lot of disappointments with our life, but one thing I want to say, in the midst of all the problems or struggles that you have, find the things that you can smile about, find the things that you can share and give to others.

And as the song that I am listening right now, believe that…

His (God’s) strength is perfect, when our strength is not.

When problems come, show life that you have a lot of reasons to smile, even more when God is with you. He is bigger than all the reasons that made you cry. So… smile!!!
